Regional Economic Alliances - Pilot Initiatives

The Regional Economic Development Branch has initiated a two-year pilot program to  establish regional economic alliances with local governments and the private sector in three regions in an effort to develop a more complete economic development “tool box” that could be available to support growth and diversification within the provincial economy.

The pilot alliances are located in:  South Peace, East Kootenay, and Vancouver Island – Coast regions. The alliances will assist communities to take a greater role in enhancing their economic well-being, and engage private sector in the development of the regional economies.

A regional economic development alliance is a voluntary, not-for-profit organization that encompasses a specifically defined economic region.  Its membership is composed of communities, business and non-profit organizations, that agree to commit contributing funding, and act collaboratively to develop, implement and manage an integrated strategy for their common interests.
